Ciplox Eye/Ear Drops is a sterile formulation containing Ciprofloxacin, a strong, broad-spectrum synthetic antibacterial agent from the fluoroquinolone class. It acts bactericidally by blocking DNA gyrase, a crucial enzyme required for DNA replication. Each 5ml vial provides Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride USP equivalent to Ciprofloxacin 0.3% w/v, along with Benzalkonium chloride NF (as a preservative) at 0.01%, and a sterile aqueous vehicle q.s.

Ciplox Eye/Ear Drops is used to treat corneal ulcers and conjunctivitis. It is also effective for treating otitis externa, acute otitis media, chronic suppurative otitis media, and for prophylaxis in ear surgeries, such as mastoid surgery.

The advised dosage for corneal ulcers is two drops in the affected eye every 15 minutes for the first six hours, followed by two drops every 30 minutes for the remainder of that day. On the second day, administer two drops hourly in the affected eye. From the third to the fourteenth day, instill two drops in the affected eye every four hours. Treatment may be extended beyond 14 days if corneal re-epithelialization has not taken place.

The suggested dosage for bacterial conjunctivitis involves instilling one or two drops into the conjunctival sac(s) every two hours while awake for two days, then one or two drops every four hours while awake for the following five days.

For all infections, start with 2-3 drops every 2-3 hours, then decrease the frequency of administration as the infection is controlled.

Hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics or any of the formulation's components is contraindicated.
